The Richardson Maritime Museum has a unique opportunity to acquire an original painting of James B. Richardson in the midst of doing what he loved most—building one of his iconic wooden boats. This extraordinary work of art captures the spirit and dedication of the man whose legacy inspired our museum.
Painted by beloved local artist George Wright, whose deep roots in Dorchester County add to the painting’s significance, this piece is more than just a portrait—it’s a tribute to our community’s maritime heritage.
George Wright has offered the painting to the museum for the price of $5,000. After thoughtful consideration, the museum board has decided to ask for your help. While our current budget cannot support the purchase outright, we feel the community would be determined to keep this piece of history right here in Dorchester County—where it belongs.
If you believe this is a painting worth preserving for generations to come, we invite you to contribute. All donations made for this piece of art will be restricted solely to the purchase of this artwork.
